Together with the Stollery Children’s Hospital, the University of Alberta Hospital created a resource to help teen patients understand the stem cell transplant process. My role was to illustrate this resource, which became a printed booklet that doctors could give to their patients.
Where possible I focused on scenes depicting patients doing everyday activities that spoke to living a normal, full life — which is what they and their team are working toward during the challenging transplant process. The book also went over some of the medical procedures involved, plus tips for how to keep spirits up during long hospital stays.
